In the first few weeks of life, your baby gathers an infinite number of new impressions and experiences. However, your baby is not just exploring the environment; they also have to learn about their own body. From birth, your baby relies almost exclusively on innate early childhood reflexes (read more about this HERE in our blog post). Most of these disappear in the first few months of life and are replaced by deliberate, coordinated movements.

To make these coordinated movements possible, your baby first discovers their own body and how they can influence the way and direction in which their arms, legs, hands, head, etc., move by tensing their muscles.
