You leave the room, your baby can no longer see you, and just like that, you have literally vanished for your baby. A ball falls into a hole, but where did it go? The cognitive ability to understand that objects (object permanence) or people (person permanence) continue to exist even when they disappear from one's immediate field of vision must first be learned.

 

According to Piaget's developmental model and current research, babies learn “intentional behavior” (building a mental image of an object and keeping it in memory even when the object is no longer in one's field of vision) between the 6th month and the end of the 1st year of life, which also helps to overcome “stranger anxiety”.

 

This object permanence box helps your baby to establish connections and see through things. In addition, hand-eye coordination is trained and the principle of “cause and effect” is introduced.
